Role & Responsibilities

Engineers and accountants – both looking for balance, commitment to excellence, and a strict adherence to relevant codes and regulations. We’re looking to hire a Controller who is as committed to detail as we are to perform our company’s accounting and reporting functions. The Controller’s scope of work will include:

  • Accounts receivable, Accounts payable, and Payroll
  • Account reconciliations, adjusting entries, and variance analyses
  • Monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual closes, as well as assisting with year-end audits
  • Creation of monthly profit/loss and balance sheet statements for Principal review
  • Preparation of applicable state and local excise tax returns
  • Administration of the company retirement plan, management of contribution changes, and associated maintenance of employee files
  • Payroll and regulatory onboarding verifications
  • Assisting the external CPA with the creation of quarterly and annual tax filings
  • Process and track client billing invoices in an accurate and timely manner

Additional Responsibilities include:

  • Creation of monthly aggregate and job-specific cost reports
  • Identification and refinement of existing and/or new organizational account processes and relevant controls
  • Administrative project setup, inclusive of contract analyses, bill structure, rate and classification information
  • Application of current and/or new federal and state regulations to company processes
  • Financial projection/modeling

Qualifications

  • Accounting or Finance Bachelor’s degree (CPA preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost-accounting principles
  • At least 3 years of experience processing payroll and billing, preferably utilizing Ajera
  • Experience working in an engineering or professional services firm
  • Experience with Paylocity preferred
  • Proficient in MS Excel and office Suite
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a high volume, fast paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A positive attitude and a sense of humor are a PLUS!
