Scriber Lake Boardwalk Trail

Replacing an old, often flooded walking trail, this new boardwalk offers lasting durability and full ADA accessibility. The site is surrounded by a peat bog with extremely weak soils—so unstable that the ground couldn’t support the weight of the equipment needed to build a traditional trail.

We designed a pile-supported structure capable of holding up to 20,000 lbs—enough to support the crane driving the piles as it worked its way around the lake. Each section had to support the next.

From soft soils to fluctuating water levels, this project demanded close coordination, innovative engineering, and a deep understanding of means and methods to bring the City’s vision to life.
