Lake Washington Institute of Technology – Center for Design

The new Center for Design at the Lake Washington Institute of Technology supports a much-needed expansion of the classroom space supporting the School of Design and Applied Arts. The building features computer/art labs, offices, a full-service kitchen, and an all-campus events center, creating a versatile space for learning and collaboration.

Serving as the gateway to campus and keeping with the design-oriented focus of The School, a steel-framed superstructure will be exposed and celebrated with the building, showcasing the braced frames that comprise the lateral force-resisting system. Custom-fabricated steel and timber composite trusses at the Event Space will enhance the structure and provide a focal point for design inspiration.
