University of Washington Softball Performance Center
One of the newer projects in Lund Opsahl’s extensive experience at the University of Washington, the design and construction of the new practice facility for the Women’s Softball Team featured several challenges. Between identifying and preparing the location, ground quality issues addressed with a deep foundation, and complications with the use of a pre-engineered building, the project’s unique character were well suited to our approach. The site, located yards from Husky Stadium, was constrained by existing structures, so before we got to work on the foundation engineering and construction administration necessary to erect this building, we also did extensive pre-design studies looking into how the building would work and where it would be located. Every member of the Design-Build project team headed by Mortenson Construction are excited to see the dream of a practice facility within walking distance of the play fields for this nationally ranked softball team a reality.
