In our first year as part of the SE 2050 Commitment Program, our team has reflected on the successes, challenges, and lessons learned from our initiatives.

Last year, we joined the SE 2050 Commitment Program to help drive the movement toward reducing and ultimately eliminating embodied carbon in structural systems by 2050. As part of this commitment, we submit an Embodied Carbon Action Plan (ECAP) annually—our roadmap for implementing strategies to evaluate and reduce the embodied carbon footprint of our projects.

Embodied carbon, the emissions associated with materials and construction processes throughout a project’s life cycle, is a critical factor in sustainable structural design. As the built environment grows, mitigating carbon emissions from material production, transportation, and construction is essential to achieving a carbon-neutral future.

Our ECAP outlines the steps Lund Opsahl is taking to move toward net zero by 2050.
