Built with an eye towards the ultra-low energy standard of a Passive House, this single family residential project continues the history of energy usage in the town it’s a part of. Rosyln, Washington is an old coal company town, but as the region and country have phased out coal as the main source of heating and electricity generation, the town has had to change— and so has the AEC industry’s approach to building. Our colleagues as Architects, Typ did an incredible job combining new and old techniques to design this home that respects and expands upon its environment. Not only does this house look amazing in its simplicity, it will also be a proud addition to the little town in the Cascades where it will soon be someone’s home.
