Highlighting Bellingham’s industrial past, the former Georgia Pacific Paper Mill acid accumulator is now an illuminated art piece in the new waterfront Waypoint Park. Coordinating with the architects and artists at Mutuus Studios, Lund Opsahl evaluated existing supports and provided seismic bracing of the 200 ton Acid Ball, thus allowing public access up close to this dramatic structure. With sightlines across Whatcom Waterway and from downtown, the high index glass bead coating makes it glow in the city lights day and night.
