Tasked with the mission to facilitate a clinic that improves health care for children in the surrounding community, architect NBBJ designed the Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic at Orenda in Othello to provide a wide range of medical, dental, behavioral health, and nutrition services under the aegis of Seattle Children’s Hospital.
As the engineer of record for the Orenda mixed-use structure, Lund Opsahl was well-positioned to integrate the components of the tenant improvement into the design of the shell and core during the simultaneous design and construction of both the building and the clinic. Wearing both the Shell/Core and TI hats, Lund Opsahl was able to easily incorporate elements like a feature stair, medical equipment, and MEP penetrations into an efficient building design, reducing both project cost and construction time.
In addition to health services, the Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic will provide programs and classes to members of the community on an array of topics from bike safety and meditation to cooking and parenting. With this holistic commitment to health, the Clinic will be an integral part of the growth of the community for years to come.
We are excited and grateful for the opportunity to have collaborated with the team on a project so fundamentally beneficial to the Othello Urban Village.
