Opening this past holiday weekend with day-long festivities to celebrate the achievement, the new Volunteer Park Amphitheater will host musical, theatrical, and performance events all summer.
Tasked with replacing the outdated masonry amphitheater formerly occupying this spot, Owen Richards Architects developed a dramatic new covered performance space that not only expands upon the existing stage and attached restrooms, but provides significant infrastructure upgrades to support a wide variety of performance and audience experiences. Framed with cantilevered steel columns, the curved, tapered, and double-cantilevered roof soars above a new concrete stage, while steel-clad restrooms and a large, operable back wall provide a backdrop for events.
We’re proud to have worked closely with ORA to develop this highly visible and accessible structure that supports and enhances the arts within the greater Seattle community.
