The renovation of Byrd Barr Place, located in the historic Firehouse 13, is officially underway! Designed to honor the history of the firehouse, which has served Seattle’s Central District for more than 100 years, the project will add a grocery-store style food bank, elevators for disabled neighbors, and space to expand. The design by SHKS won an AIA Seattle Award of Merit, and between the attention to detail to the structural design and the expertise in implementation from RAFN, this new take on an old space will benefit the community for years to come.
