Cold weather hasn’t stopped construction on this exceptional Central Washington home envisioned by Tokul Design. Oriented so as to guide occupants towards a monumental concrete fireplace, exposed steel bent frames serve dual structural and architectural functions, supporting the roof as well as facilitating vaulted ceilings above expansive window walls. Lund Opsahl worked with general contractor Town and County Homes and their steel fabricator to develop details and a site welding plan that unify the individual frame components into a structurally and visually unbroken whole, elevating essential structural framing to elegant architectural expression.
