Last week, Peter Opsahl and Design Engineer Eric Chin had the opportunity to see one of their projects erected in a remarkable way. Because of location challenges, the Pinnacle Peak Fire Lookout was assembled in parts at a secondary location lower on the mountain before being taken to the peak for final erection via helicopter. It took the helicopter 6 trips to bring all the pieces to the peak for final assembly. The 30 foot structure replaces the original US Forest Service lookout from the 1950s, and will offer views of Mt Rainier and the Cascades to all that are willing to hike the trail to the top.
